My Story
My painting journey began at age 16 but it took me 25 years to once again find myself completely mesmerized by it.

Born on the island of Guernsey, I completed my BA Hons at The Slade School of Fine Art in London, 2002-06, during my time at The Slade I had the amazing opportunity to study aboard which I choose NYC. In 2004 I spent a semester at Cooper Union for the advancement of art and science, where i fell in love with underground film and New York City itself. As soon as i graduated from The Slade the following year I jumped on a plane back to NYC which became my home for the next 15 years, during those years my focus was on film and later on digital collage which is still very much my focus today alongside my painting. You can view my collages at colormelurid.com

In 2021 I needed a new start so I put my belongings in storage and booked a one way ticket to Hawaii, I spent a year pretty much in isolation, swimming in the Pacific Ocean every morning, reading on the beach and making art in my little beach shack in the afternoon, Hawaii gave me the clarity and connection I was searching for, then one January morning I discovered I was pregnant, I was delighted and came to the realization it was time to return home, home to my island and to my family.

becoming a mother has been a blessing and a rebirth, I slowed down and now make the most of the quiet moments I can slip away to paint and look forward to creating art side by side with my daughter.
